It may still be the off season but with 5 weeks to go before the start of a new season it’s also the silly season with so much going on to get ready for another season of junior baseball. It’s great to see clubs out there busy with working bees, winter programs, try baseball days and grading. The Executive have been busy with rules reviews, organising Sydney/Association Cup trials, Coaches, and preparing for the usual late August fun (panic) of grading, transfer and exemption requests and then hand it all over to Stuart to work out a draw in a couple of days. Important dates and reminders. • The updated rules document will be posted on the website this week • Clubs must submit their Grading Profile Forms by 8pm 21st August • Registrations for Sydney Cup/Association Cup trials close 8pm 13 August o Trials will be held 20th August and 27th August o Sydney Cup commences 10th September o Association Cup commences 17th September
The Girls Development Program wrapped up their winter training last week with the final session at the indoor centre. We had 30 girls participate throughout the 6 sessions and planning is now underway for the Summer Program. We have accepted an invitation from Baseball Queensland to send a LL age team to compete in their State Championships in December.
Our successful Little League and Junior League teams from last year’s Sydney Cup, recently returned from a great trip to Cooperstown USA, both teams reporting amazing experiences and a lifetime of memories. The Junior League team was declared joint champions after a rain delayed play-off match.
Congratulations to Bree Pekert, Inez Dileo-Border, Alysha Mobberley, Ashleigh Young, Chelsea Wicks and Ryleigh Delacour-Batch on their selection in the NSW Squad to compete for the Barclay Cup in Perth in October.
We have around 20 CSJBA players selected from the Down Under Winter Classic event on the Gold Coast in July heading over to the USA in coming weeks. They will be competing in the Cal Ripkin World Series or Perfect Game Tournaments. Good luck to all and enjoy the experience.
Good luck and best wishes to all the former CSJBA players who are returning or commencing their college baseball careers. We follow your journeys with interest and look forward to cheering you on from home.
The international flavour is capped off by Harry Roberts, Harrison Thomas-McLean, Hugh Kelly and Travis Holborrow who were selected to represent Australia at the U/12 World Cup in Taiwan. A fantastic achievement and opportunity, I can’t wait to catch up with the boys and their families who will be on their way home this week.
Finally, we wish Ticara Geldenhuis all the best as she represents Australia in the Women’s World Cup starting in Canada this week.
